Katie Lamb has a background in criminology and public policy and has worked as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Victorian Government Departments of Justice, Human Services and Education and Early Childhood as well as the Australian Institute of Family Studies. She has an interest in drug and alcohol policy, vulnerable families and children as well as responses to family violence. Katie is currently on leave from her government role to complete a PhD in Social Work at The University of Melbourne.
Katie’s PhD uses a child rights framework to explore opportunities to embed the voices of children and young people who have experienced family violence within Men’s Behavioural Change Programs. By conducting focus groups with groups of young people at Anglicare and Kildonan Uniting Care Katie aims to explore young people’s perspectives on fathering in the context of family violence and the key messages they believe fathers who use violence need to know. The second phase of the research will involve the development of digital stories at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and feasibility testing of the use of these stories within one Men’s Behavioural Change Program.
